Customised long-term air quality monitoring

Long-term air quality monitoring is most effective when the system is purpose-built. We configure the most appropriate air monitoring equipment based on the site, contaminants of concern, and what information is most valuable to the client.

Data is transmitted in real time, allowing results and alerts to be sent remotely for quick reaction times. This gives your team visibility of what’s happening as conditions change, rather than relying on delayed reporting.

Our air quality monitoring systems can include:

  • Dust monitors

  • Gas monitors

  • Meteorological systems

  • Video analysis

  • 4G cellular network

  • Solar power for off-grid capability.

Frequently asked questions

How long are air quality monitoring systems typically installed for?

Monitoring is most often carried out over months or years where long-term trends or compliance need to be demonstrated. Short-term installations are also undertaken to support a specific issue or a consent application, with duration agreed based on the purpose of the monitoring.

How is the data accessed and reported?

Data is transmitted via 4G and can be viewed remotely through any web browser. Most clients prefer to monitor their own data, with alerts set to notify them of potential issues.

Who looks after the monitoring equipment?

We manage all calibration and maintenance for the duration of the lease. Monitoring can be provided as equipment-only or fully managed.

What parameters are typically monitored?

This depends on site activities, but commonly includes carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and dust. Meteorological data and video analysis can also be included where relevant.

What monitoring equipment do you use?

Air Matters owns and operates a range of air quality monitors and selects the most suitable equipment to meet each client’s specific requirements. Our rental fleet of performance-verified air quality monitors offers accurate measurement, secure real-time telemetry, and dependable field performance.

What does the process look like?

The process starts with a call to understand your site and requirements, followed by a site visit. Once agreed, there’s typically a lead-in time of around six weeks, depending on equipment availability.

Ambient Air Quality Monitoring

Air quality monitoring provides real-time information about how your operations interact with the surrounding environment over time. Whether it’s dust, gases, or other airborne contaminants, having access to reliable, continuous data allows you to move from purely reactive, to proactive.

Unlike short-term air quality consulting, which investigates a specific issue or supports a consent application, long-term monitoring is about building a picture of performance over months or years. With access to data, you can respond early, demonstrate compliance, and make well-informed decisions.
